Stay Informed

We have two ways to get a hold of our teams.  The best way to stay connected is to sign up for the football elist.  Both parents and players should sign up.  Elists can be found here, on the MVHS website.

Calendar

The website will maintain an updated calendar.  It is on the home page and under the Calendar tab. Please check it every week as things change from week to week.  And just so you know, when the calendar says football practice is from 3-5:30 for example, the players still have to clean up, so give your boys at least 15-20 minutes after practice ends.

2020 Summer vacation suggestion – It is very important that the players attend as many summer practices as possible.  Not only does this create a better team, it also reduces injuries during the playing season.  There will be no football on the following weeks:

  • June 28th – July 4th 2020
  • July 25th – August 2nd 2020

Please try and take your vacations during these  “off” weeks.

Fall Forms

Please download, fill out, and have your doctor sign the Athletic Program Enrollment Form, which includes the medical release form. You will need to turn in ALL 6 pages on Aug 1 to Coach Smith if you are Varsity and Coach Payne if you are JV.  If they are not turned in, your son will not play or practice until they are.  No exceptions.

Medical Exam Option                              CVS does drop-in sports medical exams.  They call it their “Minute Clinic”.  It’s held daily at 2630 El Camino Real in Mountain View inside the CVS Pharmacy.

MinuteClinic® hours:
M-F: 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM
Sat: 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM
Sun: 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM

Volunteering

The football program cannot run without parent volunteers. Every family needs to sign up for at least 3 shifts or commit to a season-long role as an individual or team of 2 or 3.  The season long Game Day Operation jobs can be shared such that 2 or 3 parents can divide the games throughout the season – the goal is to ensure there is always someone signed up and who is trained as unstaffed game day roles including a 3-4 person chain gang will result in a forfeit.  Please don’t feel limited to these options if you have a special talent or skill let us know and many families do several volunteer jobs to make the Spartan Football experience a successful and memorable one.  Please be sure to sign in when you report to help.

Please see the Volunteer Page  for descriptions of the jobs and sign-up for your respective squad or for team dinner help.  Again, every family’s is expected to volunteer and help make the program work.

Fundraising

Unfortunately, the above football team fees are insufficient as a football program is much more expensive than many of other sports programs.  Each player has been asked to fundraise.  The two major fundraising initiatives are the sale of coupon books with local business sponsors and the VerticalRaise campaign to directly appeal for much-needed funds to improve upon the safety and competitiveness of our program.  The goal for each player is 100% participation with a monetary goal of $500 per player.   See Fundraising for more information.

Sports Booster

A registered non-profit, 501(c)3 parent organization that raises funds for MVHS sports team needs, awareness, and school spirit to support our student-athletes.  Purchasing a Club Membership for $100 allows your family (including children through middle school age) free access to all MVHS home athletic events, excluding CCS playoffs. The MVHS Sports Boosters raises funds through its membership drive, the sale of Spartan Athletics Fan Gear like the popular & personalized Stadium Chair (To order an MVHS Stadium Chairs go to the MVHS Sports Booster Store ) and hosts several Fundraising Social Events throughout the year like:

  • The Sports Boosters Booth at Back to School Night – to join and purchase Spartan clothing.
  • The Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot & 5k
  • The Spartan Tree Lot
  • The Athletic Director’s Social & Silent Auction
  • The Spartan Athletics Golf Tournament

Funds are used for sports team equipment and training needs, scholarship, awareness and school spirit in addition to creating an athletic scholarship fund for deserving graduating seniors.
